I moved to Bowen when I was two years old (from Horseshoe Bay), and loved my childhood on this island. After finishing Bowen Island Community School, I commuted to Rockridge and West Van High before leaving Bowen for university. That is an upbringing shared by most Bowen kids, and it is an experience I am happy to share with my clients.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in European History with a minor in Political Science from UVic, and a Bachelor of Education in Social Sciences/Social Studies from UBC. I paid for my education by working for four years in Galore Creek, Northwestern BC – a remote fly-in copper/gold exploration camp near the Stikine River and Alaskan panhandle border. There I was a carpenter, geophysics surveyor, heavy equipment operator, helicopter load master, geotechnician and assay sampler (among other things as required when living hours away from the nearest town). It was there I met my wife, Janina – a German geochemistry PhD student.

We moved to Hobart, Tasmania, Australia in 2010 for her post-Doctoral work. I taught in local high schools and colleges there, and in my off time I fly fished the local rivers and lakes, and joined a team racing a bright-red Farr 30 sailboat named Wildfire. I loved my time in Tassie, although I still struggle to understand cricket and vegemite.

Janina and I moved back to Bowen in 2014, and I decided to become a Realtor. Under the tutelage of my mom Dee – Bowen’s top Realtor for over 10 years – I learned the ins, outs, intricacies and eccentricities of Bowen’s real estate market from the best person possible. In the meanwhile, our son Kellan was born, and now (at the not-so-tender age of 5) it is such a privilege watching him grow to love Bowen as much as I do. We recently rounded-out the family with a second son, Jamie, a Golden Retriever named Aubrey, and two cats, Rollie and Moira.

I love my job and I love working on Bowen – building our community and introducing this gorgeous island to newcomers as well as helping our beloved friends and neighbours sell their properties. I love volunteering on this island as well, and recommend it to all newcomers as a great way to meet new people and contribute to making our island even better.

When not writing offers and showing homes, I can be found acting on stage (and producing from behind the curtain) with various Bowen theatre troupes (Theatre On The Isle, Bard On The Rock and Kingbaby), as well as playing guitar, snowboarding, fly fishing, kayaking, playing soccer (check out Bowen FC) and travelling. My favourite country to visit is Nicaragua, where I have been in 2003, 2009 and 2013 doing community development and solidarity projects.
